Privacy Statement
This Privacy Statement describes how Leila R. Golchehreh, Attorney at Law ("I," "me" or "my") collects, uses and discloses personal information about visitors to lrglegal.com, prospective and current clients, parties and counsel in mediations, and others with whom I communicate. It also describes the rights you have under California, other U.S. state, EU, UK and Swiss law, and how to exercise them.
The short version. This is a solo law and mediation practice. I collect only what I need to respond to you, run a conflicts check, deliver services and meet my professional obligations. I do not sell or share personal information, I do not advertise, and this website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
1. Scope
This Statement applies to personal information collected through lrglegal.com, by telephone, by email, and in the course of mediation and fractional general counsel engagements. It does not apply to information handled under a separate engagement letter or mediation agreement, which governs confidentiality and privilege for that matter, nor to Silicon Valley Trust, which is operated by Lexplique LLC under its own privacy statement.
2. Information I Collect
Information you provide
- Contact information: name, organization, role, email address, telephone number and the content of your communications.
- Conflicts information: the names of parties, counsel and related entities, which I need before accepting any matter.
- Engagement information: facts, documents and instructions you share in the course of an engagement or mediation.
- Billing information: billing contact and remittance details. I do not store payment card numbers; any payment processor handles those under its own notice.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: this website is a static site hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc. GitHub records standard server log information, including IP address, timestamps, pages requested, referring page and browser type, in order to deliver and secure the site. I do not receive this data in identifiable form. GitHub's handling of it is described in the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
- Cookies: none. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, social media or tracking technologies. Web fonts are served from this domain, so no request is made to a third-party font service.
Information from third parties
- Referrals: information shared by the person or counsel who introduced you.
- Public sources: information you have made public, for example on LinkedIn, in court filings or in corporate records, where relevant to a conflicts check or an engagement.
Sensitive personal information
I do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information outside an engagement. Where an engagement or mediation requires it, I use it only for that matter and handle it under the applicable rules of professional conduct.
3. How I Use Information
- To respond to inquiries and run conflicts checks;
- To provide mediation and legal services under an engagement letter or mediation agreement;
- To administer engagements, including invoicing, scheduling and recordkeeping;
- To comply with legal, regulatory and professional obligations, including those of the State Bar of California;
- To establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
I do not use personal information for advertising or marketing, for profiling, or for automated decision-making.
4. Legal Bases (EU, UK and Switzerland)
Where the GDPR, the UK GDPR or Swiss law applies, I process personal information on the following bases: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before entering one; my legitimate interests in operating and securing the practice and responding to inquiries, where those are not overridden by your rights; compliance with legal and professional obligations; and, where you have given it, your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
5. Disclosures
I do not sell personal information and I do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. I disclose personal information only:
- To service providers who help me run the practice, such as the website host (GitHub), email, calendaring, document storage, e-signature, accounting and payment providers, each bound to use the information only to provide its service;
- To the other parties and counsel in a mediation, to the extent you have agreed or the mediation agreement provides;
- To local counsel, experts or others engaged on your matter with your knowledge;
- Where required by law, regulation, subpoena, court order or professional rules, or to protect rights, safety or property;
- In connection with a sale, merger or reorganization of the practice, subject to confidentiality protections and professional rules;
- At your direction.
Information covered by attorney-client privilege, the work product doctrine or mediation confidentiality (including California Evidence Code sections 1115 to 1128) is disclosed only as those protections permit.
6. Retention
I retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes above, and client files for the period required by the applicable rules of professional conduct and my file retention policy, after which they are securely destroyed or returned.
7. Security
I maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to a solo practice, including encryption in transit, multi-factor authentication on practice accounts, access controls and vendor selection with security in mind. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
8. International Transfers
I operate from the United States. If you contact me from elsewhere, your personal information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and, depending on the vendors involved, in other countries. Where EU, UK or Swiss law requires, transfers are made under standard contractual clauses or another lawful mechanism.
9. Your Rights
California (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents may request to know, access, correct or delete personal information, may request portability, and have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. I do not sell or share personal information, so there is no opt-out to make, and I do not use sensitive personal information for purposes beyond those permitted under Civil Code section 1798.121(a). Requests may be made by an authorized agent with written authorization. In the prior twelve months I have collected the categories of personal information described in Section 2 and disclosed them only to the recipients described in Section 5.
Other U.S. states
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws may have similar rights of access, correction, deletion and portability, and the right to appeal a refusal. If I decline a request, I will say why and how to appeal.
EU, UK and Switzerland
You may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability, object to processing, withdraw consent, and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. I do not maintain an EU or UK representative because I do not target or monitor individuals in those jurisdictions.
Other jurisdictions
Where the law of another jurisdiction applies, I will honor the rights it provides in good faith.
Professional rules, privilege and mediation confidentiality may limit some of these rights with respect to client and mediation files. Where that is so, I will explain.
10. How to Exercise Your Rights
Write to leila@lrglegal.com or call (202) 618-2349. I will verify your identity using information I already hold or by asking for enough to confirm it, and will respond within the time applicable law allows, usually 45 days for California requests and one month for EU and UK requests, extendable where permitted.
11. Global Privacy Control
I treat the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out preference signal. Because this site sets no cookies and I do not sell or share personal information, the signal changes nothing in practice, but it is honored.
12. Children
This website and my services are not directed to children under 16, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
13. Third-Party Websites
This website links to other websites, including Silicon Valley Trust and LinkedIn. Their privacy practices are their own.
14. Changes
I may update this Statement from time to time and will change the effective date and version above when I do.
